Description of elements of a typical combination:

  • Changements are usually first jumping combination in ballet class (Cavalli 2001 p. 117).

  • It is a combination about “warming up the feet and preparing the body for jumping, not about how high one can jump” (Cavalli 2001 p. 117).

  • Typical steps in this combination include

  • Changement

  • Soubresaut

  • Entrechat quatre

  • Échappé

  • Sauté
